Scouts assemble for backyard camping
by: Samantha Kelsey Aquino
The Tarlac Agricultural University-Laboratory School (TAU-LS) conducted its Backyard Camping 2023 led by the TAU-LS BSP and GSP club officers lasting for 3 days on January 13-15.
With the theme "Sustainable Growth and Promoting a Sustainable World for All," the camping activities aimed to help the students develop their abilities, interact with peers, and work toward sustainability.
Scouts who participated in the event faced challenges whilst doing their activities in rope work, cooking or fire making, trail signs, urban gardening, SDG, self-defense, first aid, and flag folding in order to develop themselves.
Furthermore, the camp fire's lighting this year was also different from the past years' because the students did not light it the traditional way, instead they blasted the fire source from a treetop as it drops down to the pile of wood below.
After the campfire ceremony, the students showed their teamwork by exerting effort in their yell, song, and a skit about the said theme.
The event came to an end when the facilitators started to give certificates to the participants and announce the winners of the activities.
