Tarlac Agricultural University - Laboratory School in partnership with Commission on Election (COMELEC) of Tarlac, held its Voter's Education Program as well as registration at TAU Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center last January 17.

 

The said program required all students from grade levels eight to twelve to attend with the purpose to educate and properly inform them regarding the Basic Services of Barangays Powers and Functions of Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, Importance of Voting, Details regarding registration, as well as fighting Disinformation.

 

The program was headed with a doxology and singing the national anthem and afterwards followed by the welcoming remarks of Ms. Jessie E. Dela Cruz, Assistant Director of Office of the School Services and Development (OSSD).

Atty. Fernando F. Cot-Om discussed the services that an SK official should follow and the role of votes to determine the conclusion of the election.

 

On the other hand, Mr. Anghelito M. Domingo, election officer of Camiling, Tarlac, discussed the steps that one should follow to register properly before voting while Ms. Nina Rica Valeroso, election assistant of Camiling, Tarlac, tackled on how to prevent, spot and fight disinformation coming from trolls and social media. 

 

Furthermore, to keep students from listening, speakers of the said program used mini-games in which students won prizes. 

 

Although the school required the students to attend the program in the morning, only students who live in Camiling, Tarlac are required to go during the afternoon session to register.
