TAU Student leaders run for mental health
by: Jamayka Rhose Pascual
On October 28, 2022, student council members and organization officers from different colleges of Tarlac Agricultural University enjoyed running and taking colorful powder baths in the first-ever Solidarity Color Fun Run for Mental Health, organized by the Guidance and Counseling Office and Association of Future Psychologists (AFP).
This activity is a part of the late commemoration of World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10 each year. It also aims to improve the mental health of the students by bringing attention to any potential mental health problems they may be experiencing.
The starting point of the color fun run was the university's main gate, where a fire truck was also set up to splash water on participants to help the colored powder adhere to them. Starting at the university's main gate, they run a lap until they get to the end of the route at the university’s grandstand.
Aside from raising mental health awareness, participants in the activity also compete for the top five spots of the fastest to complete the route. The winners brought home various prizes as a reward for their hard work in completing the route as quickly as possible.
Following the awarding of the winners, the activity ended with the participants dressed in color-stained white shirts, bright new memories, and increased mental health awareness, as well as chants to express their feelings and gratitude towards the university. Truly in TAU, mental health matters.
